Future First
Cornrows heissen nun boxer braids, und «Future First» interpretiert auf künstlerische Weise die Reaktion eines Schwarzen Mädchens auf diese Umbenennung. Der Film behandelt kulturelle Aneignung, geht aber noch weiter, indem er Platz für Schwarze Frauen einfordert und sie ermutigt, Raum einzunehmen.

Cornrows have been renamed ‘boxer braids’, and «Future First» is an artistic interpretation of a Black girl’s response to this renaming. While cultural appropriation is the anchor point of the film, it goes further by reclaiming a place for Black women and urging them to not be afraid of taking up space.
