Black Film Festival Zurich welcomes New Kyd (she/they) to present a Masterclass centered around their film «Pink Earth». This Masterclass will explore their multidisciplinary approach to filmmaking, using «Pink Earth» as a starting point. Kyd will guide through the process of utilizing film, movement, and documentation as a strategy of survival for people of the diaspora. Throughout the session, Kyd will offer insights into how filmmaking can be used for cultivating collective care.
Additionally, they will lead participants through the ideas, motivations and research that inform the queering of filmmaking, reflecting on how «Pink Earth» originated from a desire for connection, the fear of isolation and the inability of feeling connected to others within their community. We will explore questions such as: How is filmmaking a form of manifestation? How can documentation become an expression of «radical joy»? «Pink Earth» serves as a space where Kyd navigates what often feels like an impossible task, and the Masterclass will guide through this journey.
New Kyd (she/they) is an intuitive, non-binary movement artist, filmmaker, DJ, producer, and writer. They weave together dance, visual media, storytelling, live musical accompaniment, film and their voice to craft their performances and artistic work.

«Pink Earth: For All Time!» will be screened at the Black Film Festival Zurich on Sunday December 8 at 6.30pm.
